What are your initial thoughts about the concept of Literacy with ICT (LwICT)? I sure hope the students will learn to, be free to, assess themselves on this. I like the big ideas concepts. It really is a communication tool that informs how a student learns, initially. Secondly, it addresses if ICT is being used as part of that learning process.
What implementation barriers for LwICT do you foresee at Senior Years?
Several teachers needing to assess for each student will be a time issue.
Some teachers will see these continuum descriptors as outcomes because some teachers don't use ICT as a tool, but will be required to assess for it. Out of desperation they will jam it in, sadly.
I think teachers get a little nervous when we attach a you-must-assess-for-this to a new concept. Walls go up.

What opportunities does LwICT present for Senior Years?
I wish it would just come naturally, and I think it is. Instead of having to provide a government assessment for this. I guess it won't be implemented unless we do?

What professional learning is required initially to prepare Senior Years teachers to begin to use the LwICT continuum?
A pilot class may be the wayto go. Get some teachers and students that have gone through the process to share with the teachers needing to be integrated.
I would stick a student-friendly continuum on the wall and the student and teacher uses a highlighter at any time to indicate where the student is currently at. Might get difficult with 90 students.
What types of ICT do you currently have in your Senior Years classroom? ,I teach from the mac lab with the understanding that I should work myself out of a job as we infuse LwICT. We use digital cameras, scanners, moodle, epearl, office software, blogs, imovie, garage band, photo editing software, Sympodium
What types of ICT are available to you in your school, but not in your classroom? microscope camera, video camera (but i borrow it)
What subjects and grades do you teach and how do you currently use ICT to enhance student learning? Gr 5: math, science, phys. ed
Gr 8: science
Gr 9 - 11: ICT from framework
Gr 9 & 10: ELA
